How Javascript remove first character from string?

As we already told you that this could be happening by the array function and Javascript remove first character from string with the help of given methods:

  • The substring method: The substring() function removes characters of a string between a couple of specified indices and returns one new substring. That method removes the characters in a string among “start” and “end”, not including “end” itself.

If “start” is greater than “end”, this function will swap the two parameters, meaning str.substring(1, 4) == str.substring(4, 1).

Note: If either “start” or “end” is less than 0, it is treated as if it were 0.

For example :

let myArray = "this is my array";
let myArrayResult = myArray.substring(1);
alert(myArrayResult);

Output :

“his is my array”

  • The indexof() method: The indexOf() function returns the location of the first appearance of a specified value within a string.

That function returns -1 if its value to examine for never occurs.

Note: The indexOf() method is case sensitive.

For example :

 let myString ="0123456";
 myNewString = myString.indexOf(0) == '0' ? myString.substring(1) : myString;
    console.log(myNewString)

Output : “123456”

  • Javascript Trim Member Functions: The set of Javascript methods eliminate whitespace from the strings. These methods can be stand-alone or added as the methods of the String object. They can left trim, right trim, or trim from both sides of the string. Fairly managing a clumsy loop, they work easy, manageable regular expressions.
